預動 About to Move in All Directions

預動 About to Move in All Directions

隨時要有預動要跳的感覺
(suí shí yào yǒu yù dòng yào tiào de gǎn jué)

  • 隨時 (suí shí) = at any moment

  • 動 (yù dòng) = about to move

  • 要跳 (yào tiào) = about to spring / jump

  • 感覺 (gǎn jué) = feeling

👉 Literal:

“At any moment, there should be a feeling of wanting to move, wanting to spring.”

2. First correction: it is NOT physical jumping ❌

This does not mean:

  • bouncing

  • lifting the body

  • actual jumping

👉 That would violate:

  • 沉 (chén / sinking)

  • 穩 (wěn / stability)

3. Real meaning: internal readiness (內在蓄勢)

This describes a state of:

👉 蓄而未發 (stored but not yet released)

Core idea:

The body is quiet (靜),
but internally ready to move instantly (動機已備)

4. Where does this “欲動” come from?

In Wu-Hao, it comes from:

(1) Dantian elasticity (丹田彈性)

  • slightly alive

  • not collapsed

  • not rigid

👉 like a compressed spring (彈簧已壓縮)

(2) Whole-body connection (整體一氣)

  • legs, kua, spine, hands connected

  • no break in transmission

👉 so movement can happen without preparation

(3) Qi momentum (氣勢 qì shì)

  • already present

  • not waiting to be created

👉 this is very important:

movement does not start when you move
it starts before movement appears

5. Why “要跳” (as if about to spring)?

Because:

👉 it describes instant release potential (瞬間發動能力)

Like:

  • a cat before pouncing 🐈

  • a bow fully drawn (弓滿未發)

Key quality:

  • not tense

  • not stiff

  • but ready

6. Relationship with other Wu-Hao principles

This connects directly to:

「氣宜鼓盪」 (qi oscillates)

  • continuous internal movement

  • never dead or stagnant

👉 gives the living readiness

「神不外漏」 (spirit not leaking)

  • intention hidden

  • readiness not exposed

👉 opponent cannot detect the “jump”

「含而不露」 (contain without revealing)

👉 exactly this state:

  • energy is there

  • but not shown

7. In Push Hands (推手)

This becomes extremely practical:

Without this quality ❌

  • you are:

    • slow

    • reactive

    • need time to prepare

With this quality ✅

  • you are:

    • already ready

    • able to:

      • neutralize instantly (化勁)

      • issue instantly (發勁)

👉 So:

The moment you touch, you can already respond

8. Important paradox (very Wu-Hao)

👉 You must have:

  • 沉 (sinking)

  • AND

  • 欲動 (readiness to move)

Not contradictory

This is:

靜中有動 (movement within stillness)

9. How it feels (correct experience)

  • body is:

    • calm

    • grounded

  • but internally:

    • slightly “alive”

    • like something about to happen

👉 A good image:

“Like standing still on the ground,
but inside, a wave is about to rise.”

10. Common mistakes

❌ Too dead

  • no readiness

  • disconnected

  • late reaction

❌ Too excited

  • bouncing

  • tense

  • intention exposed

👉 Both are wrong

11. One-line essence

蓄勢待發,而不顯於形
(Store the potential, ready to release, but do not show it outwardly.)

12. Teaching version (clear for students)

You can say:

“Stay relaxed and rooted, but feel like you could move at any moment—
not because you’re tense, but because everything is already connected and ready.”
